Stain Removal Knowledge Base — Tips From the Luniva Lab Team
Battle-tested stain removal guides, fabric care advice and laundry science — written by the chemists behind Luniva Formula 44. Learn how each enzyme works, why certain stains set into fabric, and the exact steps to lift them safely without bleach, without scrubbing and without damaging colour.
Every guide follows the same evidence-based structure: what the stain is chemically, why it bonds to fabric, the mistakes that set it permanently, and the exact temperature, dwell time and enzyme combination that lifts it. All methods are tested in our London lab on real stained garments before publication.

Fabric Care Basics
- Cotton & linen: safe up to 60°C. Enzyme spray, 1–3 min dwell, then wash.
- Denim: colour-safe at 40°C. Turn inside out to protect the outer dye.
- Polyester blends: 30–40°C. Enzymes work well; avoid over-drying which can heat-set residual pigment.
- Silk & wool: spot-test first, cold water only, gentle dab — never rub protein fibres.
- Greasy & oily marks: use Pro Formula for cooking grease, body oils and collar grime before the enzyme step.

Common questions
Does enzyme stain remover work on dried-in stains?
Yes — extend the dwell time to 5–10 minutes and avoid tumble-drying between treatments, because dryer heat resets stains by cross-linking the residual pigment with the fibre.
Is enzyme stain remover safe on coloured clothes?
Yes. Enzymes target stain molecules, not dyes. Luniva is bleach-free and colour-safe on cotton, linen, denim and most synthetics.
What temperature should I wash at after using Luniva?
40°C is the sweet spot for the enzyme cocktail. Hotter than 60°C denatures the protease and reduces efficacy.
