Stains Luniva Removes — Dedicated Guides

Frequently Asked Questions — Stain & Dirt Removal from Clothes

What is Luniva and what does it do?

Luniva makes two pre-wash stain removers. Enzyme Powered is an enzyme formula for food, drink, protein and other everyday organic stains — curry, sauce, blood, sweat, grass, baby food. Pro Formula is not enzyme-based and is built for cooking grease, body oils, collar grime, makeup, suncream and workwear marks.

How do I use Luniva stain remover?

The method is the same for both bottles: spray directly onto the stain, let it sit for 1–3 minutes, then wash with your usual detergent following the garment care label. Do not let the product dry on the fabric. No pre-soaking or rinsing required before washing.

Is Luniva safe on coloured fabrics?

Yes. Both Luniva formulas are bleach-free and colour-safe on colour-fast washable fabrics. We recommend testing on a hidden area first, and always follow the garment care label.

Does Luniva remove grease and makeup stains?

Yes — with the right bottle. Use Pro Formula (non-enzyme) for cooking grease, cooking oil, butter, body oils and oily makeup such as foundation. Use Enzyme Powered for food, drink, protein and pigment stains such as curry and blood.

How do I remove dirt from clothes?

To remove ground-in dirt and mud from clothes, let any wet mud dry completely first and brush off the loose soil. Spray Luniva Enzyme Powered directly onto the dirty area until the fabric is saturated, work it in gently with your fingers and leave for 1–3 minutes, then wash with your usual detergent following the garment care label. Do not let the product dry on the fabric. No bleach or scrubbing required, and suitable for cotton, polyester, denim and most colour-fast coloured fabrics.

Does active enzyme stain remover work on blood stains?

Yes — blood is a protein stain, so use Enzyme Powered. Rinse the stain in cold water first (never hot, which sets the stain), spray directly on, leave for 1–3 minutes, then wash cool with your usual detergent following the garment care label. For dried-in blood, re-spray and repeat the 1–3 minute treatment rather than leaving one application on longer.

How long should I leave stain remover on clothes before washing?

Leave Luniva on the stain for 1–3 minutes, for both formulas. Do not let the product dry on the fabric. For older, set-in or stubborn stains, re-spray and repeat the 1–3 minute treatment rather than extending a single application, then wash with your usual detergent following the garment care label. Never tumble-dry the garment until you have confirmed the stain is fully removed, as heat can set any residue permanently.

Can Luniva remove old, dried-in or set-in stains from clothes?

Often, yes. Saturate the stain, work the formula in gently, leave for 1–3 minutes, then wash with your usual detergent following the garment care label. Older stains may need a second application. Results vary with stain type, fabric and how long the stain has been left.

Will Luniva remove stains from white clothes without bleach?

Yes — Luniva is bleach-free, with no chlorine or optical brighteners. Enzyme Powered targets the sweat, food and protein residues behind yellowing; Pro Formula targets the body oils and collar grime. Both work as a 1–3 minute pre-treat before a normal wash.

Is Luniva safe to use in a washing machine and on baby clothes?

Yes. Luniva is a pre-treatment spray applied directly to the stain before the garment goes into the machine — nothing goes into the drum or detergent drawer. It is compatible with all standard washing machines, free from bleach, and suitable for use on baby clothes and bedding — always wash the garment before wearing.

Do you offer fast UK dispatch?

Yes — FREE Royal Mail Tracked 24 on UK orders with no minimum spend. Order by 4pm Mon–Fri or 12pm Sat for same-day despatch, with full tracking. International shipping is also available.

Ingredients & Formula 44

Enzyme Powered (Formula 44) is an aqueous blend of four enzymes plus non-ionic surfactants, formulated to professional laundry standards in Germany. Pro Formula is a separate non-enzyme formula using grease-releasing chemistry with surfactants.

The enzymes inside Enzyme Powered:

  • Protease — breaks down protein stains: blood, sweat, egg, dairy, gravy.
  • Lipase — breaks down fat & oil stains: cooking oil, butter, body oil, sebum, makeup.
  • Amylase — breaks down starch stains: pasta sauce, gravy, baby food.
  • Cellulase — refreshes cotton fibres and lifts pigment particles trapped in weave.

No bleach. No chlorine. No optical brighteners. No phosphates. Suitable for baby clothes and bedding when washed before wear. Read full ingredient disclosure.

  • Safe: cotton, denim, linen, polyester, viscose, lyocell, blended fabrics.

About the Brand & Company

Luniva is operated by Luniva® (a trading style of ZmbH LTD), a London-distributed laundry science company. Formula 44 was developed over 44 iterations by chemists frustrated with bleach-based stain removers that damaged fabric and faded colour. Manufactured in Germany to professional laundry standards, packaged for direct-to-consumer use, and shipped from London.
