Workwear Stain Remover for Overalls, Hi-Vis & Trade Clothing

Workwear takes a different family of stains to everyday laundry — engine oil, diesel, hydraulic fluid, tar, lubricants, brake fluid and ground-in workshop grime. None of them respond to standard detergent or to enzyme-based cleaners, because they are hydrocarbons, not proteins. Luniva Pro Formula is the blue, solvent-action degreaser engineered for this job: dissolve the hydrocarbon carrier in 3–5 minutes so a 40°C wash can flush the residue cleanly. Bleach-free, colour-safe on most workwear including cotton drill, polycotton, hi-vis polyester and denim. This hub covers mechanic overalls, fuel splashes, motor oil, tar, lubricants and chef whites — each with a dedicated step-by-step guide.

Why workwear stains beat normal detergent

Engine oil, diesel and lubricants are long-chain hydrocarbons designed to resist water, heat and friction — the exact qualities of a normal wash. Water-based detergents emulsify them into the fibre instead of lifting them out, which is why workwear comes out the dryer with a dark grey shadow that gets worse each shift. You need solvent-action chemistry to break the hydrocarbon bond before the wash starts. That is what Pro Formula is built for.

How to use Luniva on workwear & overalls · pro formula

  1. Step 1 — Spray Pro Formula directly: Saturate the stained area until visibly wet. Work in a ventilated workshop or open garage. No rubbing.
  2. Step 2 — Wait 3–5 minutes: Pro Formula's solvent-action chemistry dissolves the hydrocarbon carrier so it lifts away from the fibre.
  3. Step 3 — Wash at 40°C separately: Wash workwear on its own — never with household laundry. Air-dry first; inspect before any tumble-dry.

Compliance note: Based on controlled laboratory testing. Performance may vary by stain age, fabric type and wash conditions.

Frequently asked questions

Will Pro Formula get oil and diesel out of hi-vis workwear?

Yes — Pro Formula is safe on standard hi-vis polycotton. Spray the splash zone, wait 3–5 minutes and wash at 40°C separately. For garments with reflective tape or membrane coatings, spot-test on a hidden seam first and avoid spraying directly onto the tape.

How is Pro Formula different from your pink Enzyme bottle?

Two different chemistries for two different stain families. The pink Enzyme bottle digests proteins and food (blood, sweat, curry, coffee). Pro Formula is a solvent-action degreaser for hydrocarbons — oil, grease, diesel, tar, lubricants. Pick by stain, not by garment.

Can I use Pro Formula on FR (fire-retardant) workwear?

Spot-test first. Most FR cotton and polycotton FR blends tolerate Pro Formula, but the FR treatment is bonded into the weave and varies by manufacturer — test on a hidden seam, air-dry, then wash before treating a larger area.

Do I have to wash workwear separately from family laundry?

Yes — always. Even after Pro Formula treatment, hydrocarbon residue in the drum can transfer to other clothes. Workwear runs its own wash, every time.

Will Pro Formula remove the diesel and oil smell as well as the stain?

Yes. The smell is held in the hydrocarbon itself, so dissolving the carrier lifts the odour with it. Spray, wait 5 minutes, wash at 40°C and air-dry — workwear comes out smelling neutral.
