Food Stain Remover for Clothes
Food stains are the everyday reality of family laundry — and almost every one is a mix of oil, pigment and protein. Luniva's pink Enzyme Powered formula breaks all three down in 1–3 minutes with a lipase + protease + amylase system, so a normal 40°C wash flushes the residue out. Bleach-free and colour-safe on cotton, linen, denim, polyester and most blends. This hub covers curry, tomato sauce, chocolate, coffee, ketchup, egg, gravy and general kitchen splashes — with a dedicated step-by-step guide for each.
Why food stains resist normal detergent
Most food stains are a multi-layer problem: the fat carrier (butter, oil, dairy) glues a coloured pigment (turmeric, lycopene, polyphenols) onto a protein binder (egg, meat juices) — and a standard 40°C wash only emulsifies the fat, leaving the colour and protein bonded into the fibre. You need lipase to lift the fat, protease to digest the protein, and amylase to break starch. Luniva runs all three in one spray.
How to use Luniva on food & sauce stains · enzyme powered
- Step 1 — Spray directly: Apply Luniva to the stain until saturated. No rubbing, no pre-soak.
- Step 2 — Wait 1–3 minutes: Active Enzymes break the stain down at the molecular level. Don't let it dry.
- Step 3 — Wash at 40°C: Machine-wash as normal. Air dry; never tumble dry until you've confirmed the stain is gone.
Compliance note: Based on controlled laboratory testing. Performance may vary by stain age, fabric type and wash conditions.

Frequently asked questions
Does Luniva work on every food stain?
It works on the vast majority — anything with fat, protein, starch or pigment in it. That covers curry, tomato sauce, chocolate, coffee, tea, ketchup, gravy, egg, dairy, fruit juice and sauces. For heavy oil and grease (cooking oil splashes on chef whites, kitchen workwear), the blue Pro Formula bottle is the better recommendation.
Can I use Luniva on set-in food stains from yesterday's wash?
Yes — spray, wait 5 minutes (instead of 1–3) and rewash at 40°C. Most set-in food stains lift after one re-treatment. The key rule: do not tumble-dry between treatments, because heat locks the stain in.
Is Luniva safe on baby and toddler food stains?
Yes — Luniva is bleach-free, ammonia-free and colour-safe, which is exactly what you want for baby clothes and weaning bibs. See our baby clothes stain remover guide for the gentle 30°C method.
What about oily food splashes on white shirts?
Spray Luniva, wait 3 minutes and wash at 40°C. For pure cooking-oil splashes on chef whites or heavy kitchen workwear, switch to Luniva Pro Formula — it's the solvent-action bottle built for oil and grease.
Will Luniva leave a smell on the clothing?
No — Luniva is unfragranced. Once the wash cycle completes there is no residual scent on the garment.
