How to remove vomit and pet accident stains
Updated · By the Luniva team
Quick answer
Use Luniva Enzyme Powered (the pink one). Spray it directly onto the stain, leave it for 1–3 minutes, then wash as normal following the garment care label.
For washable fabrics only. Never apply directly to pets or skin. If the mess is mostly greasy or oily, Pro Formula is the better choice.
Step by step
- 1
Lift what you can
Remove any solids and blot liquid with kitchen paper or a cloth. Don't scrub: it spreads the mess deeper.
- 2
Spray and wait 1–3 minutes
Spray Enzyme Powered until the area is covered. Don't let it dry on the fabric.
- 3
Wash, then air-dry
Wash as normal, following the care label. Don't tumble dry until you've confirmed the smell has gone.
Sickness and pet accidents leave protein-based marks and odours on bedding, blankets, pet beds and washable covers. Luniva Enzyme Powered is the recommended first choice for organic and protein-based messes like these: spray, wait 1–3 minutes, then wash as normal.
Why the smell can come back
Vomit and pet accidents are organic, protein-based messes. Rinsing removes what you can see, but residue left in the fibres keeps releasing odour. Enzyme Powered helps remove vomit, pet accidents and other odour-causing residues from washable fabrics, along with the unpleasant odours trapped within the stain.
Fabric guide
Best on washable everyday fabrics
Cotton, linen, denim, polyester and cotton blends: clothes, kidswear, bedding, towels and washable covers.
Test first on delicates
Patch-test an inconspicuous area on silk, wool, viscose, leather-trimmed items or anything labelled dry-clean only.
Don't let it dry
Spray, leave 1–3 minutes, then wash. Don't let the treated area dry out before washing.
Check before drying
Inspect the area after washing and repeat if any shadow remains. Dryer heat can set a leftover mark.

Luniva is bleach-free and ammonia-free. Keep pets and small children off treated items until they're washed and dry, and never apply it directly to pets or skin.
Yes. Saturate the patch fully and leave 1–3 minutes. For very old patches, repeat once. Don't tumble dry before treating: heat sets the protein.
Enzyme Powered (pink) is the first choice for messes that are mainly organic. Use Pro Formula (blue) when the mess is mostly greasy or oily.
Based on controlled laboratory testing. Performance may vary by stain type, fabric, age of the stain and wash conditions. Always follow the garment care label and test an inconspicuous area first.
