If you can't wash it until the guests have gone
Blot the spill, scrape off any food and rinse drink stains with cold water. That stops the stain soaking further in. Then treat it with the right spray just before it goes in the wash, so the spray doesn't dry on the fabric.
Christmas jumpers
Check the label: many Christmas jumpers are acrylic or cotton and can be treated and machine-washed like anything else. Pro Formula isn't for wool, and wool and silk should be patch-tested before using Enzyme Powered. If the label says hand wash or dry clean only, follow it.
Top tips
- Put a washable cloth under the gravy boat and the wine glasses.
- Treat each stain with its own bottle; don't layer both sprays on one spot.
- Air-dry treated table linen and check it before ironing for the next get-together.
